Interview 1!

I was visiting Hobart and William Smith College on the day we did these videos so I had to film and edit myself and I did not have time to interview someone else, but I would have if I could have.  This was kind irritating because I had to look at myself the whole time. All in all, I like how my video turned out. Its pretty short but not too bad. I tried to play with the photo effects (saturation/exposure/etc) but ended up preferring the video without any color changing. I liked my transiitions but didn't really like the pictures I used. I wasnt able to find much that was big/clear enough to work with my interview. I really enjoyed the editing of this video. I liked being able to simply slice off things - definitely one of my new cinematic favorites!

Being Interviewed:

I was interviewed by Sean young and this whole process went okay. I wasnt sure exactly where to look when being filmed and I started out looking directly at the camera and then we had to shoot it again. I then started laughing because I had no idea what I was doing. I eventually figured out what I was supposed to do and I was able to be successfully interviewed. Hopefully, next time I will be less laughs and more serious. In the end I was able to do what I needed to do. However because of the fact we had 5 people in our group and I was the last to go, the entire process was quite rushed.

Editing:

I was able to do a pretty good job editing I think. I was able to figure out how to fit the b-roll pictures over my actual interview and I think it came out pretty good. It was surprisingly difficult to find pictures of things that I thought were quite common (colleges) and even when I found these pictures, it was very hard to find clear ones so I did the best that I could. I also didn't realize how difficult it would be to make the video into less than a minute. I thought it would be no problem at first because my interview was pretty short to begin with. I definitely got very good at slicing and I really enjoyed that but I also got very confused about it. There was a slight problem, with my pointer thing turning into a razor and slicing a bunch of stuff up but that was resolved and I was able to make it go back to normal.

Interview 2!!

Interviewing:

This was the first time that I had interviewed someone for this class, seeing as the last time I just had to be interviewed and edit, nothing else.  We were much more prepared for this video because all of us talked about what we liked to do, hobbies, etc. We learned a lot about each other and that was cool.We were definitely much more prepared for this video than for the other videos that we had made so that was good. when posting this video realized that I had use the same shot of BBA. This is unfortunate because it's the only good, non-blurry picture that I could find. Oh well, I think that it is okay.

Being Interviewed:

I think that this was the easiest part. For me, talking in front of a camera makes me much more comfortable than using a camera or coming up with questions to ask people. I really am enjoying learning how to film - just to make it clear that it's not like I don't like to film, simply that I have been speaking for much, much, much longer than I have been Filming I think that we could have been more creative in the questions that we asked and the ways we responded, for our responses had lots of ums and buses, most of which we had cut out but it would be a better process if we were more prepared before - if we were actually interviewing someone important.  I have yet to receive the actual video of me while I was being interviewed but it is soon to come!!!

Using the Camera:

I really enjoyed filming this video. I liked the way that we set up the film and I think that KH was portrayed very well with both the actual visual presence as well as the way she spoke and how she talked about herself. I think that I did a good job with the composition of the film and when I got to the point of actually altering the photos on final cut pro I really liked the levels of exposure that I used. The levels used really made KH pop. We all did mess up the volume unfortunately. We must not have turned the rode mik on correctly which was unfortunate. The sound is  still audible but it is not to the levels that it should be. All in all, for the fourth film that I have ever made it was pretty good and I really enjoyed the process!
